Book Clubs

RONA BALSER BOOK CLUB

Our long-running Rona Balser Book Club offers provocative and stimulating discussions around themes that affect all of us. As always, the conversation will be led by highly skilled and seasoned facilitators. Book selections- typically a notable work of fiction with a Jewish theme - are determined by participants during the previous club’s meeting. Reading the book prior to meeting is recommended, but definitely not a prerequisite!

BANNED BOOK CLUB

This book club, generously endowed by the Rona and Bill Balser Book Series Endowment Fund, emphasizes the importance of every story. We will discuss various banned books from the perspective of the story it tries to convey. Though we will touch on the reasons and context of a specific book’s banning, the discussion will not be political or activist in nature. The club is simply designed to enjoy a good story and discuss relevant themes. Book selections are determined by participants during the previous club’s meeting and will usually not be Jewish-themed. As with all of our book clubs, reading the book prior to meeting is recommended, but definitely not a prerequisite!
