I hope you are having a great week! We have big plans at Sinai this week. Making a special appearance for Chaverim (2nd and 3rd) and Orim (4th and 5th) are the Bible Players (replacing Family Tefillah). Please plan to park and come in to stay with your children (9:30-10:15) for this program as it is designed for both students and parents. Not to worry, our Shoreshim (PreK-1st) and Zehut (6th) graders will enjoy the Bible Players with their classes later in the day. In addition, all students will have an opportunity to participate in Chuggim (electives) or specials including: outdoor adventures with a Jewish twist, art, drama STREAM (the R is for religion), or Israeli culture.
Recently, a parent asked how we can help children continue to create strong Jewish identities in conjunction with their learning and community building that takes place at Noar. Jewish pride is cemented by a mosaic of experiences, and our partnership is another way to add to their sense of Jewish self. Whether that is attending a Shabbat service together as a family, reading PJ Library books with our kids, or prioritizing youth group events, their Jewish soul will continue to be nurtured from all that we share with them.
L’dor v’dor, from generation to generation, we can partner to carry on the Jewish traditions. Here are some ways you can enrich the Noar experience beyond the walls of Sinai.
Days United has kits for every holiday. Each kit comes with multiple activities and a booklet that explains holiday stories and traditions. If you are interested in seeing a sample or trying an activity, let me know.
Explore PJ Library’s website to find their craft ideas as well as podcast and music suggestions.
Spend some time on thewebsite for Reform Judaism to get ideas or learn more about various holidays and topics.
Follow the Instragam account @atlmitzvahkids to see the mitzvah opportunities you can do together as a family.
Join us for a Family Shabbat or other family experience. From Tashlich to Purim we have opportunities your family can enjoy together.
Please let me know if I can help you brainstorm more ways or find opportunities that could be a fit for your family.
