Last week, we kicked off our study of Torah Stories for this year. Children spent time hearing about and acting out different stories. Whether it was the story of Creation, learning about Abraham and Sarah, Jacob, Rachel and Leah, or Joshua, storytelling was the name of the game last week. This week, as the story is retold and summarized, the children will focus on the values they can learn from the story. In our halls this week, you will see our PreK students focusing on the value of B’tzelem Elohim (In God’s Image) as they examine their fingerprints and make a salad of their favorite fruits and veggies. Our Shoreshim Kindergarten and First Graders will focus on Hachnasat Orchim (welcoming guests) by creating welcome signs for their guests, and our Chaverim 2nd and 3rd graders will explore the value of Emet (truth) through art, science, and games. Finally, our Orim 4th and 5th graders will explore and experience achrayut (responsibility) as they play leadership games. They will also have an opportunity to be the oldest kids in the program since our Zehut students (6th grade) will be on their trip to Chattanooga and will not have class this week.
In the month of November, all Noar students have a wonderful opportunity to participate in a mitzvah and support the students at F.L. Stanton and the Camp Jenny initiative. The month of November often means food insecurity for these kids. We can all help by bringing in the requested food items. Please see below to know what your child’s Eidah (unit) can bring in to support them.
Looking forward to seeing you all this week, Shanna
