Last weekend, I was fortunate to get to hear our Scholar in Residence, Dr. Rachel Fish, as she shared her experiences with fighting Jew Hatred. As I listened to our teens share about their own experiences with her and learn how to respond and stand up for themselves, I was reminded of how past stories can mirror the present. This week in Noar, we have the opportunity to mark Purim as a community. The Purim story is about Esther’s journey to unmask her Jewish identity and proudly save the Jews of Shushan.
In Noar, we will continue to spend time learning more about Esther’s journey, and then join together at 11:00am in the sanctuary to hear a retelling of the Purim story. Feel free to invite friends and family to join us for this event.
In addition, children are invited to come in costume for Noar. Please send in a box of pasta, mac-n-cheese, or mac-n-cheese cups that will be decorated and used as a gragger/ra’ashan (noise maker). They will then be donated as part of the Purim mitzvah of Matanot L'evyonim (feeding those in need).
We look forward to seeing everyone this Sunday! Shanna
