High Holy Day Volunteer Day
Wednesday, August 26
10:00 am-12:00 pm
The High Holy Days require the support of our entire community to prepare. We invite volunteers to assist with polishing the Torah ornaments and ritual silver, preparing bags and organizing supplies for the food drive, and providing office support as we ready the building for the Holy Days. Sign up and lend a hand.
Shammashim
It takes over 200 Shammashim (Greeters) to ensure all of our High Holy Day services run smoothly and safely, and we need your help! The support of our High Holy Day Shammashim is critical. Shammashim are responsible for checking e-tickets at the doors, directing congregants throughout the building, maintaining a pleasant decorum in our lobbies, helping congregants find seats, helping load and unload the satellite parking lot buses, and more.
Shammashim can reserve two seats in the sanctuary for the service at which they volunteer! To participate at one or more of our High Holy Day services, fill out our form and select the service(s) for which you wish to volunteer.
Click-A-Mitzvah
Your generosity can change a neighbor’s day. Throughout the Holy Days, support the Community Assistance Center of Sandy Springs — give online anytime through our Click-A-Mitzvah Amazon Wishlist, or bring your food and toiletry donations to Temple Sinai on Yom Kippur.
High Holy Day Choir
If you want to contribute to the beautiful, spiritual and musical experience of the Holy day: please join our High Holy Day Choir! We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm beginning July 29 and continuing through the Holy Days. Under the expert direction of Dock Anderson, it will most certainly elevate the way in which you engage with our Holy Days.
If you want to sing at our contemporary Reconsidered services, participation requires only one 2-hour rehearsal and learning from recordings.
RSVP to Beth Schafer to participate in either vocal ensemble.
