By contributing to our endowment, special or clergy discretionary funds, you help sustain Temple Sinai for both today and tomorrow. Celebrate a special occasion, remember a loved one, express sympathy, or say thank you by making a gift to the Temple Sinai fund that speaks to you. Endowment Funds

Temple Sinai’s Endowment Funds are established by donors in order to support a specific purpose. These funds are structured so that the principal amount of the fund is held in perpetuity with up to 4% of the principal being distributed annually to provide support for Temple Sinai.

Loventhal Scholarship Fund (1993) – To support activities of Temple Sinai Jewish youth at camps, conventions and Israel trips sponsored by the Reform movement.
Candy & Steve Berman Leadership Development Fund (1999) – For programming in the area of adult leadership development, convention scholarships and volunteer activities of Temple Sinai members.
Shirley Nemeth Youth Camp Outreach Fund (1999) – To provide camp scholarships for economically disadvantaged children with preference for URJ and NFTY-operated camps.
Linda & Don Horowitz/Rebecca & Isaac May Fund (2002) – For camp scholarships with preference to Jewish camps in Georgia.
Taylor-Greenberg Family Religious School Scholarship Fund (2007) – To provide resources for scholarships to students of Temple Sinai members for Religious School tuition and expenses related to attendance on Religious School field trips.
Merrill & Sheila Wynne Family Judaic Scholarship Fund (2015) – To provide resources for a Temple Sinai high school or college aged student to enhance their Jewish educational experience.
Brenda & Mark Lichtenstein Israel Endowment Fund (2018) – To provide funds for members high school and college students in traveling to Israel for Judaic programming and cultural/religious enrichment.
Drucker Family Camp Barney Medintz Scholarship Endowment Fund (2018) – To enrich the congregational experiences of Temple Sinai families by providing funds for their children to attend Camp Barney Medintz based upon financial need.
Maxine & Ron Rosen Jewish Day School Fund (2020) – To provide scholarships and tuition support to children of Temple Sinai members who attend Jewish day schools.
Eisenstein Family Youth and Teen Scholarship Endowment Fund (2023) – To enrich Temple Sinai by providing resources for the benefit of Temple Sinai’s Youth and Teens.

Gary & Jackie Metzel Spirituality Fund (1990) – To enhance religious and spiritual growth of Temple Sinai members and programs in Jewish mysticism and spirituality.
Michael Alembik Memorial Fund (1994) – To help and enrich the spirits and lives of Temple Sinai members through learning in the area of human relationships and healing.
Lillian Weinberg Transportation Endowment Fund (2004) – To fund transportation needs for Temple Sinai members to attend religious services, educational programs and other events sponsored by the Atlanta Jewish community.
Year of Torah Endowment Fund (2009) – To enrich Temple Sinai by providing resources for the benefit of Temple Sinai’s programs and activities associated with learning and Torah.
Richman Spiritual Relationships Endowment Fund (2012) – To provide resources for the benefit of Temple Sinai’s programs and activities associated with spiritual relationships.
Barbara & Arnold Katinsky Spirituality Endowment Fund (2019) – To enrich Temple Sinai by providing resources in support of congregational spirituality programs, membership initiatives, activities and education.
Ellen & Sanford Schwartz Torah Learning Endowment Fund (2019) – To benefit Temple Sinai’s programs and activities associated with learning and the study of Torah.
Skid Family Points of Light Endowment Fund (2023) – To provide support for the benefit of Temple Sinai’s membership by providing assistance for family life cycle events.
Richard & Nancy Gay Transportation Endowment Fund (2023) – To help members of Temple Sinai by providing resources to fund transportation to attend religious services, educational programs and medical appointments within the Atlanta metropolitan area.
Shirley and Henry Michalove Senior Transportation Assistance Fund (2025) – To help members of Temple Sinai by providing resources to fund transportation to attend religious services, educational programs and other events at Temple Sinai.

Rose & Marvin Sugarman Library Fund (1989) – To enhance, augment and enrich the Rabbi Philip N. Kranz Learning Center resources, library collections and programs at Temple Sinai.
Deitch Family Library Resource Fund (2000) – To provide resources for the benefit of the Rabbi Philip N. Kranz Learning Center, including fixtures, equipment, programming, books or other means to augment the Learning Center services.
Rabbi Kranz Institute of Jewish Learning Fund (2000) – To provide activities and resources for adult education materials, speakers, and other services, including an annual Institute for Jewish Learning.
Steven Eichel Jewish Law Library Endowment Fund (2003) – To provide resources for the organization and benefit of the Temple Sinai Jewish Law Library.
Fred W. Nichols Library Endowment Fund (2011) – To enhance, augment and enrich the Rabbi Philip N. Kranz Learning Center resources, library collections and programs at Temple Sinai.

Stanley & Shirley Cohen Building & Grounds Endowment Fund (2002) – To enhance the beauty, nature and security of the environment within Temple Sinai’s building and grounds.
Ronald & Judy Cohen Facility Improvement Endowment Fund (2019) – To enrich Temple Sinai by providing funds to ensure the major appliances and major systems (security, sound, HVAC, water, technology) within Temple Sinai are up to date.
Robin & Marc Pollack Family Endowment Fund (2024) – To be established with the primary purpose of benefiting Temple Sinai and its members. The endowment will focus on supporting the arts, fostering art and horticultural education, and enhancing the landscaping of Temple Sinai’s property. The funds allocated from this endowment will contribute to the enrichment of artistic endeavors within the Temple community, provide educational resources in the realms of art and horticulture, and contribute to the beautification and maintenance of Temple Sinai’s grounds. The Robin & Marc Pollack Family Endowment is dedicated to fostering a vibrant and aesthetically pleasing environment that enhances the cultural and educational experiences for the members of Temple Sinai.
Laurie & Zachary Solomon Technology Endowment Fund (2019) – To help Temple Sinai remain a welcoming, comfortable and safe synagogue home for members and visitors alike by ensuring that technology used for both communication and/or security systems remains current and effective.
Swerdlin Family Teva Trail Endowment Fund (2023) – To enrich Temple Sinai by providing resources for the benefit of the Temple Sinai Teva Trail. Annual uses of the funds would include, but are not limited to: maintenance and repair of the trail; addition of program enhancements and new equipment; expansion of the trail.

Bunzl Family Cantorial Chair Endowment Fund (2013) – To provide financial support so that Temple Sinai is able to engage and benefit from a full-time Cantor.
Rabbi Ronald M. Segal Endowment Fund (2014) – To provide funds for projects championed by the Senior Rabbi of Temple Sinai that benefit the congregation, the congregation’s standing in the greater Atlanta community, or another cause aligned with the greater mission of the congregation and the Senior Rabbi.
Charles S. Ackerman Endowment Fund (2019) – To provide financial support so that Temple Sinai is able to engage and benefit from a full-time Director for the Center for Learning & Engagement (Education).
Temple Sinai Rabbinic Endowment Fund (2024) – To support and sustain the dynamic leadership and stability of the Temple Sinai rabbinic team. The annual usage of the funds would be to support rabbinic salaries. The strength of this fund will help to ensure that Temple Sinai continues to enjoy the benefit of consistent rabbinic excellence.
Viki & Paul Freeman Family Rabbinic Endowment Fund (2024) – To help perpetuate the continued strength and continuity of Temple Sinai’s rabbinic leadership. Resources generated from the Viki and Paul Freeman Rabbinic Endowment Fund shall be directed to the support of rabbinic compensation and to other rabbinic initiatives pursued for the betterment of the congregation.


Special (unrestricted) Funds

Congregant Relief Fund – Provides direct financial support to Sinai members in need.
Chesed Fund – Provides direct financial support to Sinai members in need – controlled by Rabbi Ron Segal.
Kesher Fund – Provides meals/support for families in the midst of a crisis (recent death, medical emergency).

Religious School Fund – Financial support for our Religious School to help purchase supplies and support programs.
Torah Learning Fund – Financial support of Torah based programs/learning initiatives.
Education Scholarship Fund – Scholarship support for Religious School, Hebrew School and other school programs.
Preschool Fund – Scholarship support for Preschool, purchase of supplies, program support.

PNK Learning Center – Financial support of library; purchase of books, salary support for librarian, program support.

Prayer Book Fund– Purchase/repair of prayer books for Shabbat, weekdays and the High Holy Days.

Philanthropic/Social Action – Financial support of Israel, the local Jewish community and the local community.
Second Helpings – Pass through: all monies collected are sent to Second Helpings.
Sinai Refugee Relief Fund – Support refugee families sponsored by Temple Sinai.
Disaster Relief Fund – Pass through: all monies collected are used to support families/congregations recovering from natural disasters.
Backpack Buddies – Support of the Backpack Buddies program (purchase and distribute food for children in need at Title 1 schools).
Community Assistance Center – Provides basic needs assistance for neighbors to prevent homelessness and hunger while promoting self-sufficiency and empowering them to thrive.
Family Promise – Prevents and ends homelessness for families with children and helps them achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.

Early Childhood Program – Program support for early childhood programs and activities.
Teen Israel Scholarship Fund – Scholarship support for teens traveling to Israel for summer or semester-based programs.
Youth/Teen Program Fund – Scholarship support for camp, youth/teen programs.

Environmental Fund – Aimed at “greening” projects of the synagogue.
Accessibility Fund – Supports initiatives to make our facility and programs more accessible.
Technology Fund – Supports the purchase of new technology and upgrades to our existing technology.
Cultural Arts Fund – Supports programs that enhance the cultural life of the congregation (Music, drama, dance, etc.).

Operating Enhancement Fund – General support of the congregation’s operations, activities and programs.

Racial Justice Equity Fund – Supports racial justice programs and activities.
