Join us for the long-running Rona Balser Book Club. For our next meeting on December 13th, we are reading the novel The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride. This book is about life on The Hill, an area in a town in Pennsylvania in which Jews, African Americans and other immigrants live and work; they interact with the WASP population of the town that lives in the valley. The book explores the lives of these outsiders who live on the margins. It focuses particularly on the couple that owns the Heaven and Earth Grocery Store.

Jill Beerman continues as the facilitator for our book clubs. She is a very experienced professor and lecturer at the university, high school, and community college level, and holds a PhD from NYU.
