Chyatte Lecture: Memory in Body, Soul and Nation
Wednesday, December 11, 2024 • 10 Kislev 5785
7:00 PM - 8:00 PMLibraryJoin us for a groundbreaking and fascinating look at the concept of memory from two perspectives. Jewish thinking teaches that we carry a crucial part of our story, as people and as a nation, through the generations as memory. Both the destruction and the resurrection of our people are carried within our DNA. Interestingly, Chinese medical texts also discuss how the memories of our experiences are embedded in our body, carried in our blood and woven within our tissues.
We will discuss how both traditions view the body as a repository of memories and experiences, emphasizing the interplay between physical health and emotional well-being of man/woman and nation.
By examining the connections between our physical being and our lived experiences, we aim to uncover deeper insights into the nature of memory and healing. Join us as we bridge ancient wisdom with contemporary understanding, highlighting the profound relationship between body, mind, and spirit through the East and the West.
Rabbi Michal Ken Tor, our sister congregation rabbi in Israel, and Chinese medicine practitioner, Yael Saslove, are visiting Atlanta to present this very innovative lecture.
Join us for a provocative conversation over some wine and cheese.
This event is made possible by the sponsorship of the Sam Chyatte Memorial Fund.
