With a profound sense of pride and gratitude, I am thrilled to share that Temple Sinai's membership approved the Amended and Restated By-laws during our January 12th Special Congregational Meeting. I firmly believe these revised by-laws will enable Temple Sinai to operate with greater efficiency and compliance, as well as embrace the culture of belonging we strive to nurture while expanding opportunities to discover future leaders among us.
The meeting featured respectful, spirited, and insightful discussion, and with one adopted change*, the proposed by-laws were overwhelmingly approved by more than 90% of in-person and virtual attendees, highlighting a collective commitment to the future strength of our community.
I would like to thank our congregants for your engagement throughout this process, from reading the multiple communications, to attending town halls, to participating in the special meeting. Knowing that so many members, from founding members and past presidents (and their children!) to those who just joined this year, care deeply about Temple Sinai’s past, present, and future is truly heartwarming and should give us all immense hope for the continued strength and vitality of our community.
I also want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the By-laws Task Force for their tireless work over the past year and to the Board of Trustees for their careful and patient consideration of the by-laws and the issues surrounding them. Finally, thank you to our clergy for their unwavering leadership, education, and spiritual guidance throughout this process.
Together, we continue to build a stronger foundation for tomorrow.
Warm regards,
Robert Sinsheimer
President, Temple Sinai
*The congregation added a provision that only regular members who self-identify as Jewish are eligible to serve as President, President-Elect, or VP of Spiritual Life.
