There is an endless amount of Jewish Religious sites throughout the State of Israel. Rich and deep Jewish culture permeates every inch of the state. However, amidst the undeniable feel of Jewish history, religion and culture, you can find many other religions. One of the most unique sites to visit in israel is the Ethiopian Church, conveniently located on Ethiopia Street in Western Jerusalem.
The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has been in Jerusalem for over 1,500 years. Many say that there has been an Ethiopian presence in Israel since the encounter between the Queen of Sheba and King Solomon approximately 3,000 years ago. Ethiopian Christianity haseven adopted some Jewish religious traditions. For example, eating kosher food, keeping Shabbat and the custom of circumcision. While visiting Jerusalem, visiting the Tewahedo Church is a powerful and beautiful experience.
