Take Two

Here are a handful of the countless expressions with the word “two”:
- Put two and two together
- Two shakes of a lamb’s tail
- A bicycle built for two
- The lesser of two evils
- Hit two targets with one arrow
- Take two tablets and call me in the morning
- Two sides of the same coin
- It takes two to Torah
Rightfully, you’ve likely called me on that last expression, which, of course, concludes with “tango,” not Torah. After this coming Shabbat at Temple Sinai, however, “It Takes Two to Torah” might very well become an addition to your storehouse of familiar sayings. I, along with the entire clergy team, are sincerely delighted to welcome Abigail Pogrebin and Rabbi Dov Linzer to Temple Sinai this weekend. Abby and Rabbi Linzer are the authors of the book -- It Takes Two to Torah: An Orthodox Rabbi and Reform Journalist Discuss and Debate Their Way Through the Five Books of Moses -- published within the past few months. The robust and impressive biographies of our guests, which can be read on the included book link, should make it readily apparent that we are going to enjoy a dynamic, engaging, and entertaining few days of learning! Rabbi Linzer and Abby are speaking at Shabbat services and during the Shabbat dinner* which follows, and they will be leading a provocative Torah study on Shabbat morning.
(*Please note that registration is required for dinner and, thanks to our Alembik Endowment Fund, all in attendance will receive a complimentary copy of their book).
If you want my two cents, this is a Shabbat you don’t want to miss!
