New Mask Policy
02/28/2022 09:16:51 AM
In March, 2020, our congregation first implemented policies and protocols designed to safeguard our community against what we had hoped would be the short-term impact of Covid-19. Nearly 2 years later, we find ourselves moving from pandemic to endemic.
A large percentage of our community has become fully vaccinated and boosted (mitigating against the effects of Covid) and our understanding of Covid and its variants has evolved, which has enabled us to shift our protocols once again. The Temple Sinai Covid Task Force, in accordance with updated CDC guidelines and in consultation with our medical advisory team, is pleased to share the following policy and procedure changes related to the wearing of facemasks.
- Effective immediately:
- Masks will now be optional for those attending Shabbat services, lifecycle events, and programs and classes intended for adults, whether inside the building or outdoors, who are fully vaccinated.
- Individuals who are unvaccinated and above the age of 5 are expected to continue wearing a mask at Sinai programs, during worship services, and in educational settings. If unable or unwilling to wear a mask, we ask that you continue to participate virtually.
- Protocols concerning the wearing of masks in our Preschool and youth programs are being updated according to the following schedule:
- Beginning this Sunday, March 6, masks will be optional for all in our Noar (youth) and HUB (teen) programming** and
- Beginning Monday, March 14, masks will be optional for all in our Temple Sinai Preschool and all tot programming**.
**Note that a communication will be sent this week to families enrolled in these programs with specific details and additional protocols.**
- We appreciate that there are members of our community who are immunocompromised or for other reasons still feel more comfortable wearing a mask when attending in-person events, regardless of vaccination status, and we fully honor personal preferences and practices.
