Some of the opportunities are a 'one-time' volunteer, some are ongoing, and some are 'as needed'.  If you have the desire to do some volunteer work, please take a few minutes and see what we have available. The list will be continually updated, so please visit this page regularly!

READING TUTORS: Sponsored by Temple Sinai's Sisterhood/Neshamot, the Atlanta Jewish Coalition for Literacy (a program managed by the National Council of Jewish Women) is currently seeking volunteer tutors to help children on a one-on-one basis to develop his or her reading potential. Volunteers may be men or women, at any age. For just an hour a week and not too far from your home you can positively and permanently change the life of a child.

AJCL provides volunteers with initial and ongoing training, including assistance with understanding and meeting the special needs of multi-cultural, multi-lingual students. Teachers give the volunteer tutors guidance on students' specific areas of need. In addition, AJCL gives volunteers workbooks, reading books and other materials to use creatively to make the coaching more fun -- and more effective -- for their students. It is still not too late to volunteer and assistance is still desperately needed. Please contact Merle Smith or Phyllis Weiser today to volunteer. You can reach her at  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Kesher, Sinai's Caring Community - Volunteers are needed in two areas:

  • Team Volunteer - responsible for calling congregants during times of illness or periods of mourning, delivering meals, and/or ordering shiva meals.  Volunteers serve two, 2-week stints each year.
  • Kesher Cares Cooks - responsible for preparing meals (entree & dessert) for congregants.  These meals stock the Kesher freezer for Team Volunteers to deliver as needed.

Hospitality Committee - Nothing says lovin' like somethin' from the oven! We need help preparing baked goods for 6-10 Temple Sinai events throughout the year. If you can also help set up dessert trays, that's even better ... Or batter! Join this wonderful group of people who share their cooking prowess to help defray costs for these various events. It's a whole lot of fun. Bake with your children and make it a family mitzvah! How sweet it is!
